Jaecoo J7 Recalled Over Engine Stalling Risk as Safety Issue Emerges

Date: February 4, 2026

Jaecoo, the SUV brand under China’s Chery Car Bunch, has reported a worldwide review of its Jaecoo J7 model after recognizing a defect that might cause the motor to stall out of the blue while driving. The issue has raised security concerns over different markets and prompted quick action from the manufacturer.

What’s the Issue?

The recall affects 2025 model-year Jaecoo J7 SUVs equipped with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol motor. Investigations revealed a potential blame in the vehicle’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU) wiring saddle. Due to improper directing amid gathering, the wiring saddle may rub against the motor mounting bracket over time.

This grinding can lead to wear or damage to the wiring, which in turn may cause the motor to suddenly lose power or shut down while the vehicle is in motion significantly increasing the risk of an accident.

Cause of the Problem

According to review documentation, the issue is manufacturing-related or maybe than software blame or driver abuse. If left unaddressed, the delayed scraped area of the wiring seems to hinder motor signals controlled by the ECU, driving to sudden slowing down without warning.

Jaecoo has confirmed that the solution involves inspection, rerouting, and securing of the wiring harness, and replacement if necessary.

Scope of the Recall

  • Vehicles influenced: Over 1,000 Jaecoo J7 SUVs globally

  • Engine sort: 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol

  • Model year: 2025

  • Markets affected: Primarily Australia and China

  • Not affected: Plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants and a few regional markets

In China, a similar recall too includes related models sharing the same engine setup, reinforcing concerns around consistency in generation quality amid the affected manufacturing period.

What Should Owners Do?

  • Jaecoo is contacting affected owners directly and urging them to:

  • Book an appointment with an approved Jaecoo service centre

  • Have the vehicle assessed as soon as possible

  • Complete the repair at no cost

The company has advised owners not to ignore the review, indeed if no symptoms are currently present.

Why This Review Matters

Modern vehicles rely heavily on electronic systems, and indeed minor wiring issues can have genuine results. Sudden motor shutdowns especially at thruway speeds or in heavy activity pose a critical security hazard to drivers, travelers, and other street users.

This review underscores the significance of vigorous quality control and quick corrective activity, especially for new brands expanding into worldwide markets.

Jaecoo has stated that it is reviewing internal manufacturing forms to prevent similar issues in future models.
