What is the Petrol Price in Pakistan Today (Dec 1, 2025)?

Note:

  • As of December 1, 2025, the price of petrol (MS) has been revised to Rs 265.45 per litre.

  • High-Speed Diesel (HSD) was also adjusted, now priced at Rs 279.65 per litre (a reduction of Rs 4.79 from previous rate).

  • These changes come into effect from December 1 and will remain valid for the next fortnight (until December 15, 2025).

Why the change?

The tariffs are revised every 15 days by the government, based on recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), to reflect global oil price trends, import costs, currency exchange rate fluctuations, and local tax/levy policies.

The recent reduction, though modest, offers some relief to consumers at a time of high inflation, especially benefiting daily commuters, motorbike and small-vehicle users, rickshaw drivers, and those whose businesses rely on fuel.

Types of Petroleum in Pakistan (2025 & Latest Prices)

Petroleum (crude oil) is a natural liquid found under the Earth’s surface, formed over millions of years from decayed plants and animals. It is refined into fuels used in vehicles and homes. Common fuel types in Pakistan include:

  1. Petrol (Super)
  2. High‑Speed Diesel (HSD)
  3. Light Diesel (or Light-Speed Diesel / LDO)
  4. Kerosene
  5. Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG)
  6. Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)

Let’s look at their latest prices in Pakistan.

Petrol (Super) Price in Pakistan

Super petrol has a high octane rating and gives good engine performance. It is used in cars and bikes. The latest price is PKR 265.45 per litre.

High-Speed Diesel Price in Pakistan

High-speed diesel is used in heavy vehicles like trucks, buses, and vans. It helps vehicles run at high speeds. The price is PKR 279.65 per liter.

Light-Speed Diesel Price in Pakistan

Light-speed diesel is for medium-sized vehicles. It is cheaper than high-speed diesel and is priced at PKR 155.81 per liter.

Kerosene Oil Price in Pakistan

Kerosene oil is used in small machines and equipment. Its price is PKR 171.65 per liter.

LPG Price in Pakistan

LPG comes from imported Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). It is used in homes for cooking and in some vehicles. The price is PKR 254.86 per kg (as of December 1, 2023).

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)

CNG is made from natural gas and is a cleaner fuel for vehicles. It is cheaper than diesel and petrol.

Highest Petrol Price in Pakistan

As of 2025, prices typically hover around PKR 255–266 per litre, depending on global oil‑market pressures and government levies.

Euro Fuel Emission Standards in Pakistan

Pakistan has adopted Euro V emission standards to make vehicles cleaner and reduce pollution. The country skipped Euro III and IV and moved from Euro II (2012) to Euro V in 2020. Many countries now follow Euro VI and will switch to Euro VII around 2025.

Reasons for Petrol Price Increase

Several factors affect petrol prices in Pakistan:

  1. International Crude Oil Prices: If oil costs more globally, petrol becomes expensive.
  2. Exchange Rates: Petrol is bought in US dollars. If the Rupee falls, petrol prices rise.
  3. Taxes: Government taxes increase fuel prices.
  4. Refining Costs: Processing crude oil into petrol costs money.
  5. Distribution Costs: Transporting petrol to stations adds to the price.

Can Petrol Prices Be Controlled?

It is hard to control petrol prices because global oil prices change constantly. The government can help by:

  1. Offering subsidies
  2. Adjusting taxes
  3. Managing oil imports

OPEC (Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries) can also influence global oil supply and prices, but complete control is not possible.
